A Natural Connector

Gareth is the founder of I-Therapy and someone people often turn to when they're ready to make real, lasting changes in their lives. His passion lies in connecting with people — he loves listening to their stories, understanding their journey, and supporting them to create positive results.

With a natural curiosity and keen interest in learning about all things in life, Gareth relates to people from all walks of life and brings fresh perspectives into his work. Known for his easygoing and down-to-earth nature, he makes people feel comfortable and at ease, turning conversations into meaningful connections.

I personally believe that everyone has the ability within themselves to make those all-important changes in life. My passion is to walk alongside people and help them achieve the results they're searching for.

My Story

Born and raised in New Zealand, Gareth has travelled widely, but Aotearoa has always been home. While studying in Otago, he developed a deep understanding of human development — what shapes us, what holds us back, and how we can step into the lives we truly want.

Family & Connection

Gareth brings both professional expertise and genuine life experience to his counselling practice, understanding the complexities of balancing life's demands.

Worldly Perspective

Having travelled widely while calling New Zealand home, Gareth brings a broad understanding of different cultures and perspectives to his therapeutic approach.

Life Balance

When not working, you'll find Gareth spending time with family, catching up with friends, watching sports, or occasionally jumping back onto the basketball court.

My Approach

My approach is based on the belief that every person I work with is the expert of their own life. I believe people already hold the answers they are looking for — sometimes they just need the right support to uncover them.

My job is to help guide clients toward those genuine answers, creating the space for them to reconnect with their strengths, clarity, and direction. I work in a collaborative, down-to-earth way, always tailoring sessions to the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method.

Evidence-Based Approaches I Draw From:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Solution Focused Therapy Emotional Freedom Techniques Holistic Wellbeing

Beyond these techniques, I value the power of presence, empathy, and genuine connection in helping people move forward in their lives. Clients can expect a safe, non-judgmental space where they are truly listened to and supported.

Professional Experience

With over 10 years of experience, I've had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, addictions, and major life transitions.

I have supported both adults and young people, helping them find practical strategies while also exploring the deeper patterns behind their struggles. This experience has taught me that healing is not one-size-fits-all, and every person's journey is unique and deserving of respect.
